2026 Living Landmarks Celebration – Thank You!

More than 400 people packed the Plaza Ballroom last night for a record-setting Living Landmarks Celebration. The annual salute to exceptional New Yorkers and the City we love raised more than $1.4 million. It was another ”only in New York” evening.

Living Landmarks help preserve the City in their own special ways. “Our incredible honorees reflect the rich diversity and extraordinary talent of New York,” said Peg Breen, President of The New York Landmarks Conservancy. “Each has made significant contributions that have added to everyone’s enjoyment of the City.”

We were proud to honor the generosity and spirit of these dedicated New Yorkers:

Durst Family (Helena Durst and Nan A. Rothschild)
Jamee and Peter Gregory
Jane Hartley and Ralph Schlosstein
LL COOL J
Crystal McCrary McGuire and Raymond J. McGuire
Peter Marino

We were delighted to welcome back many former honorees, including our wonderful host and man of many hats, Stephen S. Lash, Honorary Co-chairs Barbara Tober and Marina Kellen French, Cindy Campbell and DJ Cool Herc, Bonnie Comley and Stewart Lane, Ellen Futter, Audrey and Martin Gruss, Marlene Hess, Anthony Marx, Ruth Lande Shuman, Elizabeth Stribling, Angela Vallot and James Basker, and Robert Wankel.

Last night’s celebration was particularly historic as we marked two bittersweet milestones:

Farewell to The Plaza: We held one final, unforgettable night of memories in this iconic space before it closes for a four-year renovation in January.

Peg Breen’s Legacy: We celebrated our extraordinary President, Peg Breen, who is stepping down after 32 years of transformative preservation leadership and as the founder of our Living Landmarks honor.

Preservation has always played a vital role in defining the energy and excitement of New York. While our honorees come from diverse professions, all share a commitment to protecting the City’s extraordinary art, architecture, and history.
