June 20, 2025 – UPDATE
City Planning is about to vote on Northwell Hospital’s massive, 436-foot tower proposal for Lexington Avenue between 76th and 77th Street. The Conservancy has consistently opposed it, and our testimony is already in to City Planning. Here’s a final chance to make your views known.
ACT NOW before June 25th
Tell New York City Planning Commission to Say NO to Northwell.
Tell Councilmember Keith Powers to protect our neighborhood.
Powers has significant influence over what happens next with the Northwell proposal — he needs to hear directly from his constituents and others around the city. “Member deference” will play a key role if and when the application comes to a vote at the City Council.

The Conservancy continues to oppose Lenox Hill Hospital’s redevelopment plan, which would radically change the zoning on Lexington Avenue. Read our letter to Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine. The proposal is now undergoing the public approval process, and Community Board 8 opposed it. The Borough President’s decision is the next step.

Lenox Hill, now part of the large Northwell Hospital chain, maintains it needs the height and bulk to hold all its surgical needs and ancillary procedures in one place. At least one expert on hospital design disputes that. We hope his testimony is given weight.
