Conservancy Pledges 15 Sacred Sites Grants

In April the Sacred Sites Committee voted to pledge 15 grants to 14 sites totaling $216,500. These grants were awarded in 14 counties, from Nassau County on Long Island to Erie County in western New York. Additionally, staff pledged another $29,650 in consulting grants to fund architectural and project management work at four New York City congregations.

Manhattan

Calvary Episcopal Church (Parish of Calvary & St. George’s), Gramercy Park
$35,000 — Brownstone and Stucco Repair and Downspout Replacement

Mariners’ Temple Baptist Church, Chinatown/Two Bridges
$15,000 — Architectural Work for Façade Stucco, Cornices, and Gutters

Brooklyn

Ann and the Holy Trinity Church and Pro-Cathedral, Brooklyn Heights
$45,000 — Tower and East Facade Restoration

Kingsway Jewish Center, East Midwood
$6,000 — Architectural Services for Nostrand Ave Wall Reconstruction

Queens

James Episcopal Church (St. James Parish Hall), Elmhurst
$3,650 — Parish Hall Conditions Survey

Staten Island

Trinity Lutheran Church, Staten Island
$15,000 — Door and Window Restoration
$5,000 — Architectural Work for Door and Window Restoration

Long Island

Community Church of East Williston, East Williston
$4,000 — Building Conditions Report

Hudson Valley and Capital Area

Reformed Church of the Tarrytowns, Tarrytown
$4,500 — Building Conditions Survey

Cornwall Monthly Meeting
$7,500 — Building Conditions Report

Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Red Hook
$16,000 — Restoration of the remaining stained glass windows in the sanctuary

$8,000 — Stucco Conditions Report
