Kyunhea West joined the Conservancy’s New York City Historic Properties Fund in the fall of 2021. Prior to joining the Conservancy, Kyunhea worked on exterior restoration projects at Scott Henson Architect in New York as the Operations Manager. She is a graduate of Clemson University and College of Charleston’s joint Historic Preservation program and studied Communications and Studio Art as an undergraduate at the University of Maine. She completed internships with the Charleston Museum and New York’s Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation researching building artifacts, documenting cultural history and advocating for neighborhood protections.
Favorite Landmark: The Chrysler Building, once the world’s tallest building and a key part of New York’s distinctive skyline. The 1920s modernist design is a stand out against the buildings in midtown Manhattan where I had my first job and always symbolizes the potential of New York dreams to me.
