12:00 PM – Docent-Led Tour
Embark on a fascinating tour of Temple Emanu-El, where you’ll discover the rich history and remarkable art and architecture of this magnificent building, one of the largest synagogues in the world.

2:00 PM – The Art and Artistry of Hildreth Meière
We are pleased to welcome our friends and neighbors from St. Bartholomew’s Church and the Hildreth Meière Association for an in-depth exploration and discussion of the breathtaking mosaics by Hildreth Meière.

Hildreth Meière (1892-1961) was one of the most influential and creative decorative artists of the 20th Century.

In the 1930s she was considered the most famous muralist of the Art Deco style, and probably the most prolific, in the country.  Meiere’s specialty was the ancient and beautiful art of mosaic, which continues to be enjoyed in religious institutions and public buildings throughout the country.

Two of her most spectacular commissions in New York are featured at St. Bartholomew’s and Temple Emanu-El.

Join us for an exploration of this extraordinary artist and some of her contributions at two of the City’s most beloved religious sites.

Temple Emanu-El and the Bernard Museum of Judaica will be open until 4 PM.
