Statement from The New York Landmarks Conservancy

As the New York Landmarks Conservancy, we are dedicated to saving the buildings and neighborhoods that represent the great diversity of our City and tell the stories of all our communities.

1880s Astor Row, Harlem – City Landmark Block, Restored in the 1990s.

In this time of grief and reflection, we stand with our colleagues of color and will work to ensure that preservation continues to build understanding.

For nearly 50 years, our loan and grant programs helped homeowners, non-profits and religious institutions in every borough across the City. We’ve been proud to partner with communities of color. We pledge to continue to help all communities save and celebrate the buildings and places that matter.

New York’s strength is its diversity. We have come through times of great difficulty before. We all benefit from preserving the City we love.

With best wishes for your health and safety from all of us,

Peg Breen, President
