25th Anniversary of our Living Landmarks Celebration—A Success!!!
November 1, 2018
The Conservancy celebrated the 25th Anniversary of our “Living Landmarks” gala on November 1 at The Plaza before a packed ballroom of more than 500 dedicated New Yorkers. The successful event surpassed our $1.2 million goal.
Columnist David Patrick Columbia hosted the festivities, which honored public garden designer Lynden B. Miller; former MTA Chair Peter Stangl; Hospital of Special Surgery’s Dr. Thomas Sculco; Stephen S. Lash, Chairman Emeritus of Christie’s North America; Publicolor founder Ruth Lande Shuman; former Columbia University President Michael I. Sovern, philanthropists Liz and Jeff Peek and Broadway legend, Chita Rivera.
Lash, a former Chairman of the Conservancy, auctioned off a glass of New York City water for $5000 after challenging the audience to show their devotion to the City and preservation.
The evening included a presentation of taped interviews with each of the honorees and a brief look at some of the incredible New Yorkers honored throughout the past 25 years.
