Favorite Landmark: As a child growing up in Harlem, the magnificent brownstones on Striver’s Row (St. Nicholas Historic District) were my first landmarks. Constructed between 1891 and 1893 in the Renaissance style by McKim, Mead and White; Bruce, Price and Clarence; and James Brown Lord, they provided a sense of pride in my community and connected me to Harlem’s illustrious past.
